Right on the heels of Ballistic's rebuff from the Webby committee, comes some good news ... my good chums at Red Bubble have been recognized as an Official Honoree by the Webby Awards, a distinction that recognizes work exhibiting remarkable achievement.
Congratulations! They have my vote.

Webby travesty
Months ago we put the Ballistic site into the Webby Awards - Retail section. The nominees were announced today. Alas, we didn't make the final cut :(
As expected, we were up against pretty stiff competition...

Judges seemed to be wowed by glossy black interfaces and lengthy flash intros. Not sure that they actually tried to buy anything from these sites - you can't even buy directly from the Nike Golf site! (You are sent to third party sites - grrr - not exactly a 'retail site' methinks) Nor from the Ikea sites (lists brick and mortar stores). Presumably somebody from the Webby awards is dating someone from the moo site, because, well ... ho hum...
Anyhoo, I'm going to squeeze my sour grapes into a large tumbler and get tipsy on my own indignation. ;)
ADDENDUM: Time to eat a small slice of humble pie. I previously went "ho hum" in reference to the Moo site. I would like to retract this biting and eloquent criticism, because... well I actually quite like it. Its intuitive navigation, clean design and community focus makes me want to vote for it. Especially considering the slick juggernauts it's against. mmm, pie.

New shop for toys ... I mean mini art sculptures
On my most recent sojourn in old Sydney town, I happily stumbled upon a new gem in Newtown called Ruban Rat Designer Toy Store and Gallery.

The little shop is exploding with limited edition designer toys, mini figures, designer plush, original art, prints, clothing, and more. Those who know me can imagine my bursty-out eyes and the distance my jaw dropped when faced with such a feast.
Couldn't resist popping some joy into my bag...
