Runner up in Toohey's Comp.

Yay I'm second best. Or, is that I'm the first loser ... nope, second best.

Thanks to my chums, and perhaps the occassional stranger, my entry into the Tooheys competition won People's Choice Runner Up, which puts me in the running for lots of beer and some other stuff:)

An avalanche of tees – or maybe a teevalanche!

Tis only a few weeks until I move to Melbourne, so I thought I'd get my big, sheet-metalled guy to do some reconnaissance before I landed. Unfortunately, in true gigantic robot fashion, he decided to destroy the picturesque cityscape of the footy city.

Apparently it will be rebuilt and ready for when I alight.

Here are some shots of said destruction ...

All available in tshirt form at Red Bubble!

TED696 Project - please vote for me!!!

I've been madly thumping away in my vector shop of late. The latest little creation is this horned beauty ...

I whipped it up for the Tooheys TED696 competition. They are about to launch their new 696 ml long neck, and they want artists to create an arty paper bag for it.

All you need do is slide the little green slider to "I'm digging it" and hit "Submit vote".

They've commissioned one of my favourite artists, Shepard Fairey (of OBEY Giant fame), so in the unlikely event it wins, I will be in very good company indeed.

New web site ready for your viewing pleasure

I finally found a few free moments to chisel and solder my web site into existence. It's basically a showcase of my tee work, with a splash of portfolio work thrown in.

Goodies to come:

Completion of stage 1: more examples in the Hire Me/portfolio section. A few little paranoid tweaks here and there. And, importantly, improve the SEO.

Stage 2: fully integrate the Blog (at the moment it just sends folk off to my old blog). Thinking this might be a good opportunity to get into Ruby on Rails. Although I haven't had any professional experience with it as yet, I've looked under its bonnet and looks like it might purr like a well-tuned Chevy if I treated it right. Plus, several Ruby addicted friends say that they want to marry it and have its children. With a recommendation like that, you can imagine that I'm looking forward to getting to it better - at least date it a few times and see where it goes from there. Either that, or use Wordpress.

Stage 3: I will turn it into a fully fledged online shopping site.

Triple J likes the Trooper

I was listening to the Triple J Morning show the other day, and they asked for illustrations to be sent in for the Doctor's new tattoo. I sent them my Bettie Trooper 2.0.

This morning, much to my girlish glee, The Doctor waxed lyrical about it, and Zan Rowe said it was "hot!"

Gort protects my desktop

I'm a lover of stuff. Two things that I am particularly in love with are the 1951 movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and collectibles that relate to the aforementioned classic Sci-fi flick. Hence my glee at purchasing this 5" die-casted tough-guy ...

Made by the good people at Rocket USA, this little sculpture depicts Gort - a Galactic copper conceived on a planet far, far away.

I painted Gort a little while ago ...

Incidentally, prints are available at my good friends over at Red Bubble :)
